China’s fright train from Shijiazhuang to Hanoi, Vietnam safely arrives at An Yuan Termial

On August 2, leaders of Vietnam Railway Corporation held a welcome ceremony for the first train from Shijiazhuang, China to An Yuan Station in Hanoi, Vietnam at An Yuan Railway Station in Hanoi.

In his speech at the ceremony, Mr. Dang Si Manh, representative of the General Corporation of Vietnam Railways, said that the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam has approved the Program for upgrading the capacity of railroad international intermodal transport services up to 2030. According to the program, in the next few years, Vietnam’s cargo transportation through railroad international intermodal transport will be increased to three to four times of the current volume.

The train from Shijiazhuang in China’s Hebei Province to Vietnam’s Hanoi’s An Yuan Station covered more than 2,700 kilometers and took four to five days, with the first train having 23 TEUs filled with 800 tons of metal equipment, chemicals and fertilizers, among other goods.

Zhang Chaochao, member of the Standing Committee of China’s Hebei Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Shijiazhuang Municipal Committee, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech expressing his hope that the two sides will further strengthen exchanges, realize connectivity and strive to ensure the long-term and effective operation of the China-Vietnam international intermodal train so as to continuously improve its operational efficiency and promote the economic and social development of the two countries.

Xiong Bo, Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam, said that China-Vietnam transportation connectivity plays an important role in the cooperative relationship between the two countries. The official opening of the Shijiazhuang-Anh Duong international intermodal transportation route is an important step forward in the cooperation between the two countries under the Belt and Road Initiative. This will create more convenient conditions for both sides’ high-quality products to enter each other’s markets.

Mr. Liu Rui-Ling, Chairman of Hebei Dry Port Construction Group, said that Vietnam is an important export market for Hebei Province and a major trade and investment partner of Hebei Province in ASEAN. With the opening of the international intermodal transportation route from Shijiazhuang to Anh Duong, the cooperation between the two sides will be further expanded, giving impetus to expanding the scale of trade and cooperation between the two sides.
