Frequently Asked Questions

Direct answers to the most common questions about rail freight from China to Europe — transit times, costs, customs, minimum quantities and more.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does rail freight from China to Europe take?
Rail freight from major Chinese hubs to most European destinations takes approximately 12–18 days terminal-to-terminal, and about 15–20 days door-to-door including pick-up, customs clearance and final delivery. That is roughly one third of the transit time of sea freight.
How much does China–Europe rail freight cost compared to air and sea?
Rail freight typically costs about one quarter of air freight for the same shipment. It is more expensive than sea freight per CBM, but delivers roughly three times faster, which often makes it the most cost-effective option overall for time-sensitive cargo.
Is rail freight more environmentally friendly than air or road?
Yes. Freight trains produce about 92% less CO₂ than air freight and less than one third of road-transport emissions per shipment, making rail the greenest practical option between China and Europe.
What is the difference between FCL and LCL rail freight?
FCL (full container load) means your cargo exclusively occupies a container — usually a 40-ft unit holding about 67 CBM or 26–28 tons. LCL (less-than-container load) means your cargo shares a container with other shippers. LCL is the cost-effective choice for smaller volumes.
Which European countries can you deliver to by rail?
We serve 22+ European countries by rail, including Germany, Poland, France, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic, the Nordics, the Baltics and the UK — with door-to-door delivery available in all of them.
Do you offer door-to-door service?
Yes. For LCL shipments we need the packing size, weight and destination address; for FCL we need the cargo weight and the loading address in China. We then handle pick-up, rail transport, customs clearance and final delivery.
Who handles customs clearance?
We do. Our own customs agents operate at major European rail terminals in Poland, Germany, the Netherlands, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Spain, and we arrange export customs in China on your behalf.
My supplier in China has no export license. Can you help?
Yes. We can arrange the full export process in China on your supplier's behalf, including export declaration and documentation, so the lack of an export license does not block your shipment.
Can you pick up goods from inland China?
Yes. Provide the exact pick-up address and we arrange domestic transportation from any city in China to the nearest rail terminal — Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Yiwu, Shanghai, Ningbo, Chengdu, Xi'an, Zhengzhou, Chongqing and more.
What cargo types are accepted on the China–Europe railway?
Most general cargo is accepted: electronics, machinery, auto parts, textiles, furniture, consumer goods and new energy vehicles, among others. Certain hazardous or restricted commodities have limitations — contact us about your specific product.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept bank transfer (T/T). Trade Assurance is also available for qualified orders.
